Initial Color and Design
I want to share some of my
master bedroom inspiration with you, since I think that can be helpful to see
where some of the ideas came from when designing a space. It’s nice to see different
versions and interpretations to things.
When we moved into our
house, we painted the yellow master bedroom a faded blue (Sherwin Williams
Krypton) and had a mix of new/old furniture with a farmhouse feel. I was never
totally crazy about the color in that particular room. It was darker and bluer
than I desired, but I put off changing it since we’d had a professional painter
do it.
Wall Sconces
Sometimes I struggle with having enough room on our nightstands, and our large lamps take up quite a bit of the surface. I’ve seen TONS of swing arm wall sconces online lately and love the look. It also totally frees up your nightstand for other items!
You can have them wired in, but they also make plug in sconces, so that’s what I’m going for–no electrician required!!
I love this brass Glass Globe Sconce Wall Light by Project 62 at Target. It’s ultra modern and sleek, and a little different than the typical swing arm designs. It’s also on sale for $43.99 right now, so that has a lot of appeal!

I love these brass sconces from Little House of Four. The look so high-end and the brass really pops against that smoky wall. And surprise–the lights are actually Wray Modern Industrial Up Down Swing Arm Wall Lights Set of 2 Lamps Dark Brown Sconce from Amazon that she spray painted and covered in Gold Leaf Rub and Buff. Now I’m wishing I’d picked up two wall sconces I saw at a yard sale a few weeks ago. I’ve never used that product, but plan on trying it on something soon!!
Color
I really want to go with
something more neutral on the walls for our master bedroom–think white, cream,
light beige, etc. I’d also like to bring in a darker color somewhere, and
instead of straight up gray, I’m really crushing on mid and dark greens.
I love this image by Hunter Premo with the deep green
accent wall.
I could save all of Chris and Julia’s images and put here, but the main thing I’m inspired by is the color. They just did a Phase 1 kitchen renovation and did all the cabinets in a mid green and it is so good! Chris Loves Julia does everything well.
Wall Treatment
I’ve been wanting to try
out some sort of wall treatment after doing my Faux Shiplap with No Nails laundry room accent
wall a few weeks ago. Chris Loves Julia did vertical shiplap for their
backsplash in the photo above.
100 Things 2 Do does a full board
and batten wall in medium green behind their bed.
Texture and Finishes
Overall, I want a clean,
fresh room that still feels cozy, and A Thoughtful Place really nails it. Her
use of colors and textures is just perfect. The dark dresser with gold hardware
is spot on. I love the mixture of black with gold accents. I’m also crazy about
a big statement wall of photos.
Puling Everything Together
I am so inspired by these
images (and MORE!) for our little refresh. Finding master bedroom inspiration
is easy; the difficult part is figuring out what you like best and what works
together in YOUR space. Of course, there are also budget constraints, but I’m a
firm believer that you can still have a beautiful space you love without
breaking the bank. That’s my quest for now, so wish me luck and we’ll see where
we end up!
