Beauty Gift Guide 2021

Beauty is pretty much my favorite category.  Kind of like the Liger is pretty much my favorite animal.  Twist my arm a little and I'll be buying everything at the make up counter.  Watch some online contouring tutorials, I'll try a whole new system of foundation.  I have tried a lot.  A LOT, a lot.  So, when I say these are my absolute favorite, can't-live-without items, take my word for it.  If you gift these to someone special, they will love you for it.

Check out my 2021 Young Kids' Gift Guide, too!

Gift Guide

1. Baby Foot Exfoliating Foot Peel - $25.00

This is the greatest product ever.  Do not be fooled by impersonators.  Don't save $10 and buy something cheaper; you will not have the same result.  All you do is unwrap these plastic booties, stick your feet in and tape them on with the included tape, and wait an hour.  Then, throw the booties away, rinse your feet off and wait for the magic to happen.  In a week's time, the crusty old skin of your feet will slough and peel off and you'll be left with baby soft skin.  If peeling skin delight's you, these are for you.  You will want to take before, during and after photos.  This product is amazing and you need it in your life.  I use them about twice a year.  Be sure to read all the tips online for how to achieve the best results.  Hint:  I like to soak my feet daily to speed up the process.

2.  FabFitFun Box - $49.99/box or $179.00/season

This is probably the most fun gift you can get for someone OR yourself.  Each season, you'll be delivered $200+ worth of full-size products (beauty/lifestyle).  The yearly subscription is really the way to go, because you can customize everything you receive.  And if you want to choose two items in one category, you can.  It's usually +$15, +$10 or less to add on an extra in any category.  I have gotten so many great items that I love, and been introduced to a bunch of new product lines.  I see myself keeping this subscription for a long time.  You'll also have access to exclusive sales, where you can purchase FULL-SIZE products at huge discounts.

3.  TAN-LUXE The Face Illuminating Self-Tan Drops - $49.00

These self-tanning drops come in a light and dark shade.  I use the light.  You mix 1-4 drops with your moisturizer and smooth it across your face.  I like that it doesn't really add another step into your routine, but I think these could be great for winter to get a sun-kissed glow.  It's a subtle change, so it's easy to build to what suits you.  I think I would use it every other day.

4.  Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream SPF 30 - $128.00

This is the nicest face cream.  It goes on smoothly, soaks in quickly, and instantly improves your skin's texture.  I love that it has SPF, so even if your foundation doesn't, you're covered.  It's great.  I keep buying it.  You may even find it in your FabFitFun box, if you're lucky.

5.  Laura Geller Prep-n-Go Lip Scrub and Tint Duo - $24.00

The scrub side looks like a traditional lipstick, but is a sugar scrub and will leave your lips soft and smooth.  Finish with the gloss if you want.  I'm not a lipstick-wearing girl, but this saves my lips in the winter and I love how they look and feel.

6.  Burt's Bees Tinted Lip Balm - $5.49

I'm the worst at consistently taking care of my lips and wearing lipstick, so anything that's easy is great for me.  I love that this keeps my lips soft on the go--and adds subtle, universally-flattering color.

7.  It Cosmetics Superhero Elastic Stretch Volumizing & Lengthening Mascara - $25.00

This mascara is volumizing and lengthening and makes your lashes look fabulous.

8.  The Brow Trio - $36.00

This brow kit includes everything you need to do your brows in a handy pouch.  You can even get color-matched online (I am soft brown) before purchasing.  There are 9 stencils in all:  A low, medium and high arch in small, medium and large.  The size refers to the thickness of the brow.  I like to use medium, high-arch because it looks natural and fits my brows best.  You hold the stencil tightly against your brow and use the foam dabber to apply the pomade.  Peel away the stencil, and you have even, defined brows!  A spoolie is included for blending.  Oh, and once it's dry, it's not going anywhere.

9.  Laura Geller Double Take Foundation with Kabuki Brush - $34.00

This price blows me away--a full size foundation with brush!?  Wow.  I love the coverage of this foundation, as well as the ease of application.  It can be applied wet or dry.  (I do dry.)

10.  Boar Bristle Hair Brush set - $19.97

If you have long hair, or kids with long hair, stop what you're doing and buy this brush.  You even get a set of two!  This brush is life-changing.  It is the one I reach for when I am brushing out my wet hair, and the only one I use on our daughter.  Brushing hair is no longer a battle and there are no tears.  I'm telling you, it doesn't get better than this, so go for it.

11. Revlon One-Step Hair Dryer & Volumizer Hot Air Brush - $59.99

This is like a hair dryer and brush in one.  I usually blow dry my hair upside down, then brush it out and straighten it with my Chi.  This takes the place of both.  I love that I can throw this in a suitcase and leave everything else at home and my hair will still look great.  It's a real time saver and definitely helps create volume.

12. Seche Vite Dry Fast Top Coat - $5.95

This is the best top coat.  I do my nails (when I do them) at home, so there's always a struggle to not mess them up before they're dry.  This speeds up dry time tremendously.

I can't remember the first example of fluted wood furniture I saw, but it was probably either this gorgeous custom wood bathroom vanity from Chris Loves Julia , or the DIY fluted coffee table Fariha shared on Pennies for a Fortune . The custom cabinetry was done professionally using a router for each line, which isn't something I possess the skills to do. This did help inspire the colors I used in our bathroom remodel, though! I really connected to the method Fariha used to build the coffee table--wooden dowels. What a fabulous idea!

I did a little refresh in our daughter's room, and I decided we needed some large-scale art. I actually planned to order a print, but inspiration struck on a trip to HomeGoods when I saw two HUGE framed canvases on clearance for $25 and $9. I grabbed them up and headed home, with my head filled with ideas on what to do with them.

I love peel-and-stick wallpaper so much! It's an easy, DIY fix for any space that just needs a little refresh. Because it's easily removeable, I feel much more confident going ahead and choosing a pattern. I struggle to commit to traditional pasted wallpaper--I think it's because we removed so much of it when we bought our house. It is no easy task. Peel-and-stick is also very economical, so if you decide to change it up a few years down the line, it doesn't feel so bad. I've now put it in four areas of our house. Today, you'll see the kitchen and den. It's the same pattern in different colors. I love how much the simple pattern really just makes each space.

Just for fun, here's a freebie--a digital download for some fall wall art! This quote is from Anne of Green Gables. I still want to read the book, but I was a huge fan of the series Anne with an E on Netflix. Just click on the file, download it and print it at home or send it to a place like Office Depot. Happy October!
